Available

So yesterday after lunch, I wanted dessert and what better place than Urban Seafood (Plano, Texas). The best bread pudding on earth, but unfortunately after driving 15 minutes to get there, they were closed... So I was unstoppable in my quest for something sweet, I decided to goto Cinnaholic (Richardson, Texas) and to my surprise, they were closed... If you know me, you know I won't quit until I get what I want... So I then decided on cookies from Potbelly and guess what, they were OPEN and had plenty of cookies available...

So I know you're not wanting to read about my cravings, but this reminded me of a recent conversation I had with a friend. She's now divorced and rebuilding her life as a single person. After hearing her story regarding her now Ex-Husband, I asked "So why did you think he was "The One"?"... Her response, "I never thought he was the one, he was just available". Now when I heard this, I instantly knew this was a blog I had to share with you.

Many times we find ourselves settling for people or things because they're AVAILABLE. Just like the cookies at Potbelly's, of course they were good, but that wasn't what I wanted. Temporarily they served the purpose of something sweet, but even after the first bite, I thought about the White Chocolate Bread Pudding at Urban Seafood. You see I settled when I should have actually just waited until I could get what I wanted. Just like those cookies, many of you are settling for people and things you really don't want. You're tired of waiting; tired of dating; tired of failed attempts at what you want, so you've just given into what is easy and waiting for someone to pick it up...

What I know for sure is... Taking something or someone because they're "available" only hurts you in the future. You will never be satisfied; happy or at peace with it. You will forever wonder what things would be like with the person you really want... You will forever feel a void or a hunger for more than what you have... You can save yourself a great deal of time by just holding out until what you want presents itself. Start this year only accepting what you want, not taking what is available... Make every decision a "purposed" decision, one that will help you reach goals... You're better than a temporary fix, so don't indulge in situations that leaves you still hungry for more...
