"Being A Man In 2020": Meet Chad Higgins

When people ask me what do I do, I get to tell them that I'm a teacher and a musician.  But being a father to Christian and Kobe is my #1 job!  It's the one job that I have where failure is not an option.  The boys are now 21 and 18 and both out of the house, but each day I look forward to hearing from them.  Finding out how their day was, what they learned today that they didn't know when they woke up, etc.  In 2020 and especially with them being away from me, I can only hope and pray they are doing what I have sought to model for them.  Being respectful, working hard, and just being a good dude.

Their mother and I separated in 2013 and made a vow we would never allow what we were dealing with to be an issue for our kids.  So I'm grateful to her for never hindering my relationship with my kids in any way.  It isn't always about doing something or giving them something, it's for them knowing they can be comfortable coming to you about anything and knowing you have their back, while holding them accountable.  There was one moment in my life when I was way out there that I said, "I don't want my kids to grow up and act like me".  That was the reality check I needed to begin to become the man that God wanted me all along to be and to be a father my kids could respect and be proud to emulate.

June 18, 2020 - July 8, 2020, 15 strong, confident and truth-seeking men will share some of their struggles, accomplishments, and challenges of 2020… You don’t want to miss this, so make sure you check back as they reveal what it's like "Being A Man In 2020"…
