Where do I begin? Growing up in church I was taught the bible, so I thought. Then life happened and I began to question everything. Is God Real? Is there a heaven? Is there a hell?
One thing I have noticed from growing up in church is most people were taught how to be spiritual, but not how to be human. No one taught me how to live life as Jesus said and live a life of abundance. It was always "go to church" and "pay your tithes". This is not to say you shouldn’t do either of these, but it is to say, it’s more to it. I wish someone would have taught me "financial health" which could lead to "financial weath"; travel and explore the world, and how to raise a family. I believe it was lack of balance growing up that has caused me to wrestle with insecurities and even question my manhood at times. It didn’t help my father wasn’t present either.
It wasn’t until recently I had to really evaluate my life. I had to go on a journey in search of my purpose and discover what God was really saying about me. Have you ever been there? Can you relate? The way I grew up shaped me to be self-righteous, but later i realized and discovered your "self-righteousness" is just as bad as somebody who may be sinning on regular bases.
2020 has already taught me to figure your life out, or you will end up miserable. It's taught me to pace yourself and never compete with anybody but yourself. I have learned the value and purpose of your experiences, they are there to help you unveil who you are meant to be. As painful as those experiences might be, there is some good that can come out of it, if you let it. In order to find the man you are supposed to be, you can’t be afraid. It is so important you are strong enough to deal with the darkest parts of your life. In doing this, you can rest assured not only will you be better for it, your friends and family will too.
