I was ask the question "What Is A Man?". When i think about being a man, “Confidence” comes to mind. Confidence can come from race; religious beliefs; sexual preference. Whatever it might be, men need to be confident.
It pains me to admit this, but I’ve spent much of my life rejecting the way God made me. Over and over again, I would hear messages about loving and accepting yourself. I heard it at school; church, and on TV. But even though I repeatedly heard it, i still felt incomplete. So to fill this void, I tried to be just like everyone else. I listened to music I didn’t like, went to places that didn’t inspire me, and succumbed to peer pressure. I looked at what I had, compared it to what they had and found myself not measuring up. But I can finally say, I'm now secure enough to be myself.
It wasn’t I didn’t have an awesome, supportive, and loving upbringing. I'm blessed with an amazing family who is willing to go to the end of the world for me. Truthfully, so many times I found myself comparing my life to others. I was this scrawny; geeky looking guy in school. As i grew older I realized God made me and He knows everything about me. Psalms 139:13-14 reminds us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made (this includes your perfections as well as your flaws). You may be African American, Caucasian, Asian, Hispanic... You may be Gay or Straight... Whatever state of a man you are, remember God made you . And you being “Confident“ in who you are not only makes a world of a difference, but I believe it makes God smile knowing you recognize the beauty of His creation. Know that you are loved and a valuable man to this world despite your beginnings.
So now I’m in a place where i love and accept every flaw in my life. I'm not perfect, and that is okay... My differences are what makes me strong, and they're also what separates me from every other man. Different is the new norm in 2020, how normal are you?
