"They've Moved On"

About a month ago I met up with some High School Classmates... Just before the event all of the good and bad memories flooded my mind... There was one memory in particular that actually took me to a not so pleasant place involving a teacher... Teachers you believe would be there to encourage you to be the best version of yourself, but this particular teacher said some things I must admit stung even 30 years later...

Fast forward to this week... I attended the funeral of a High School Classmate and this particular teacher was there... I didn't recognize her at first because the vibrant person I remembered had transitioned into somewhat of a feeble old woman... She didn't remember me and probably wouldn't have even remembered that moment in which had become a bad memory for me... She had moved on, lived her life, yet I resurrected a moment that should have been forgiven and forgotten... To be completely transparent, I thought if I ever saw her again I would mention it... But at that very moment, I realized it wasn't even worth it and found so many instances in which that hurtful moment has helped me over the years...

On my way home, I thought about how we hold onto things in which the person who created the moment has moved on... For some of us, we don't realize we're holding on until something triggers the thought or touches the unhealed wound. What I know for sure is... If you're holding onto something that hurt you in the past, let it go... I can guarantee they've moved on and probably can't even remember it or sadly to say, YOU. Forgive them for what they did... Forgive yourself for allowing it to happen if need be... Whatever the case, YOU MOVE ON... Your future is depending on you forgiving and releasing... Allow the wound to heal, you deserve it...
